In 1891 Samuel Rowbottom resident of 82 Abbey Road, Derby applied for a patient for his automatic tea making machine. It was the first steps towards an invention which, in my view, doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.
I mean, sure, the wheel can get us around but what use is it first thing in the morning when you’re gasping for a cuppa? The TV? Brings nothing but hate and warfare into our homes, the telephone? Just means people can bother me when I’m trying to relax with a cuppa and the internet? Well, as fabulous as that is, it still takes me away from a good book with a good Earl Grey.
So, imagine my joy when my beloved sister bought me a Teasmade for Christmas! The gift that keeps giving! No longer will I have to walk down stairs to put the kettle on! No, for me, it’s early morning English Breakfast every single day from here on in!!
